Maura joined the Common Cents Lab team in September 2016 and focuses on applied behavioral economics research in the financial services industry. She received her MBA from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, her Master of Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment, and her B.S. from Duke University.
As Short Term Planning Manager at Southern California Edison, one of the largest electric utilities in the U.S, Maura led a team that developed and maintained the strategy and models for the company’s day-ahead bids for the California energy market. She also coordinated SCE’s energy storage strategy and sought to bring more renewable energy and clean resources online, leading the measurement initiative for the Preferred Resources Pilot. Through a summer associateship at Opower, Maura combined both her environmental and behavioral interests in the Consumer Marketing group. Prior to graduate school Maura also founded and directed Sweeter Theater Productions, a nonprofit theater company in New York City committed to developing female theater artists.
Maura enjoys using coworkers and friends as guinea pigs for cooking experiments and spends far too much time listening to the “Hamilton” soundtrack.
